The biggest myth about launching a membership is that you need a large following, a fancy website, or a special software platform to make it work. You don't. Your first 10 members are almost certainly already in your client list right now — they just haven't been asked.
I launched the membership at Chaise Beauty Lounge and hit 87 members without running a single ad. Here's the exact framework I used, and how you can compress it into 7 days.
Day 1–2: Build Your Tier Structure
Before you talk to a single client, you need to know what you're selling. A simple three-tier structure works best for most solo estis and small teams:
- Base tier ($79–99/mo): One service per month, member pricing on all retail, priority booking access
- Premium tier ($129–149/mo): Two services per month or one premium service, everything in Base
- VIP tier ($199–249/mo): Unlimited monthly visits (with service cap), exclusive add-ons, VIP booking window
The goal isn't complexity — it's giving clients a clear choice. Most will land on the middle tier, which is where you want them.
Day 3: Write Your Founding Member Offer
The founding member concept is your most powerful launch tool. The idea: the first 20–30 people who join get a rate that's locked in forever — even when prices increase. This creates urgency without a discount, because you're not cutting your price, you're rewarding loyalty.
"You're not giving a discount. You're giving permanence. That's a completely different psychological offer."
Your founding member message should do three things: explain what the membership is, make the offer clear, and create a real deadline. "The first 25 members lock in this rate permanently. After that, new members pay the regular price." Simple, honest, effective.
Day 4–5: Text Your Top 30 Clients
Not email. Text. Your open rate on a text from a number your clients recognize is close to 100%. Email open rates in the beauty industry average around 20%.
The text is short: "Hey [name], I'm launching a monthly membership at [business] next week and I want to give my best clients first access before it opens to everyone. Can I send you the details?" That's it. Two sentences. You're not selling yet — you're asking permission, which means almost everyone says yes.
Send that message to your top 30 clients — the ones who rebook consistently, who buy retail, who refer people. These are your founding members waiting to happen.
Day 6: Follow Up With Details
For everyone who said yes, send a follow-up with your tier options, the founding member rate, the deadline, and a link to sign up. Keep it one page. If you don't have a signup page yet, a simple Google Form or Square subscription link works fine for the first cohort.
Day 7: Close the Founding Round
Send one final message: "Founding member spots close tonight at midnight. After that, new members pay the regular rate. Here's the link if you want to lock in." You will get signups from this message who haven't responded to anything else. Deadlines are real.
10 founding members at $99/month is almost $1,200 in monthly recurring revenue. That's before you do a single service. That's the whole point.
